Dr Rose qualified at Birmingham Medical School. He completed an intercollated BSc in physiology, won an exchange scholarship to Minneapolis and won the Surgery Prize for his year which his father had won thirty years previously.
After qualification Dr Rose completed full vocational training for general practice. He also spent several years working in the pharmaceutical industry on the development of medicines. He holds diplomas in obstetrics and in pharmaceutical medicine.
Dr Rose worked for thirty four years as a full-time single-handed General Practitioner in the National Health Service which he founded and for thirteen years was a trainer of General Practitioners and the main contributor to a medical educational video programme covering all aspects of medical care.
He is particularly keen to listen to patients and match medical care to their needs.
In recent years Dr Rose has been elected a Fellow of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine of the Royal College of Physicians of London and a Fellow of the Royal College of General Practitioners.
Outside of medicine Dr Rose has a full family life and enjoys theatre, music, sailing, swimming, flying and walks in the country.
